New Acura SUVs: Which One is Right For You?
If you’re in the market for a luxurious, fun to drive and well-equipped new SUV, both the new 2018 Acura RDX and 2018 Acura MDX will make great choices, but which one is better suited for you? In the simplest answer, the MDX is larger and offers seating for seven passengers and more cargo space than the RDX which offers seating for five and still plenty of cargo space. With a more nimble size, however, the RDX provides you with more athleticism and agility out on the road. Both vehicles make great choices, and to make it easier on you, we’re going to highlight a few of the key differences between the two.
Acura MDX vs. Acura RDX: What’s the difference?
Under the hood, both vehicles come equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine, but the RDX produces 279-horsepower with a six-speed automatic transmission while the larger MDX produces 290-horsepower with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The RDX has a lower starting price than the MDX, and gets just slightly better estimated fuel economy than the MDX. In terms of safety, the new 2018 MDX and RDX earn flying colors in safety scores and both offer the AcuraWatch driver assist technology system to provide you with confidence.
